New Pictures Terriers fail to test Manchester City who bag their 100th goal this season across all competitions

MANCHESTER CITY became Centurions once again and kept the Premier League title heat firmly on Liverpool.

Danilo’s deflected effort on 18 minutes was the 100th goal scored by the champions in all competitions this season.

And City – who reached three figures with their league points last season – are clearly in no mood to let their trophy go without a fight.

Wingers Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane scored in quick succession after the break to make it a comfortable win over the managerless Terriers.

Huddersfield are expected to confirm German coach Jan Siewart as David Wagner’s successor in the next few days.

So this could prove to be Under 23 boss Mark Hudson’s only game in charge of the senior team and his team gave him everything.

Perhaps Liverpool’s dramatic win over Crystal Palace had taken the wind out of City’s sails because it was a slow start by Pep Guardiola’s men.

They were denied a clear penalty when Terence Kongolo wiped out Sterling as he raced in on goal – but ref Andre Marriner was not having it.

The visitors did take the lead on 18 minutes in slightly fortunate circumstances as Danilo’s 25 yard shot was on target but struck the head of Christoph Schindler.

The deflection left Lossl completely helpless as it fizzed into the net. Not how City would have scripted bringing up three fixtures but they all count.

Guardiola would have been disappointed with the rest of the first half as his team’s passing was strangely off key.

No doubt he had a few strong words to say at the interval as within 11 minutes of the re-start they had the game wrapped up.

First Kevin de Bruyne steered a ball out to Leroy Sane on the left – and the linesman did not flag even though the German was fractionally offside.

His cross to the back post was met by a flying header by Sterling and that was game over.

Just to make sure they added a third as Danilo’s ball forward was nodded into the path of Sane by Aguero.

The German flier took a touch and then rolled the ball past Lossl to round off a super goal.

That made it 23 goals without reply for City since Roberto Frimino’s goal at the Etihad at the start of the year.
