New Pictures WhatsApp update adds new stickers to messaging app with extra keyboard from Google

A NEW WhatsApp update is set to allow users far more access to stickers than ever  — all thanks to the integration of third-party keyboards.

Before the messaging app limited users in their sticker selection because of the limitations of the in-app keyboard.

According to WaBetaInfo, who first spotted the new WhatsApp update, new stickers will be available within days.

Google is testing the Stickers Integration feature for GBoard as well as developing the virtual keyboard app for Android smartphones and Apple iPhones.

By integrating GBoard into its app, WhatsApp will let users send stickers within the Google keyboard to their contacts.

WaBetaInfo said: “Thanks to the sticker integration feature (and the GBoard beta update available on January 15) any GBoard Static Sticker sent in WhatsApp will be automatically converted from GBoard to a compatible sticker format.

“WhatsApp will allow in future to more keyboards to use their integration service, but currently it’s exclusive for GBoard (probably because WhatsApp provided instructions to Google only).”

Other new features are expected to beef up security for users.

This includes using fingerprint technology via the privacy function within the app’s settings.
