A GROUP of Arsenal stars headed to the O2 Arena on Thursday night to watch the Washington Wizards beat the New York Knicks in a late thriller.
While Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hector Bellerin and Lucas Torreira were among those in the crowd, one player who had other plans was Mesut Ozil.
The video game nut was instead at a reveal event for the new Mortal Kombat game.
Ozil has racked up thousands of hours on shooter Fortnite – with a December back injury even blamed on him playing the game up to ‘five hours a day’.
On Thursday night, the German playmaker was at Koko in Camden Town, London, to play in a celebrity tournament.
Gunners team-mate Saed Kolasinac was also at the event, with the pair apparently losing in the early rounds.
Ozil’s appearance at the tournament comes with him playing only 45 minutes of football in the last five matches – and after Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit had slammed the No 10 earlier in the day.
Petit told the Mirror: “I think he [Ozil] lost his motivation and desire. He now looks as if he is just waiting for his retirement.
“A player losing his motivation happens a lot. We are not robots. Sometimes you get into a new season and it’s just not the same. It’s very difficult to play at the same level all of the time.
“If you earn so much money, have already won so many titles and, on top of that, if you have problems in your private life… I don’t know what’s going on in his life, but I can see what’s going on out on the pitch and his body language is not good.”
Arsenal stars have also grown fed up of the star, as SunSport can reveal.
Players are wary of his mood swings and aren’t sure if he will even say ‘hello’ at London Colney any more.
Gunners players were out in force as stars from across the Premier League descended on the O2 Arena.
Aubameyang, Bellerin, Torreira, Shkodran Mustafi, Alexandre Lacazette, Matteo Guendouzi, Alex Iwobi, Emile Smith Rowe and academy boss Per Mertesacker were all courtside for a thrilling game that was won on a dramatic last second goaltend.

Chelsea quartet Marcos Alonso, Olivier Giroud, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ethan Ampadu were also in the crowd, as was Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, Watford captain Troy Deeney and Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha,
Celebrities such as singer Emelie Sande, rapper Tinie Tempah, comedian Michael McIntyre and magician Dynamo were also at the game.
The Knicks, who had lost nine of ten heading into the game, blew a 12-point lead in the final quarter to allow the Wizards to win.
However, there was disappointment on the night for British basketball fans, as NBA commissioner Adam Silver hinted that London could lose next year’s game in favour of Paris.
