New Pictures Mystery as bizarre blobs suddenly appears on US weather radar on clear day

MYSTERY surrounds a series of strange blips picked up on weather radar across the US which appeared in clear conditions.

American weather experts were left puzzled because the blobs appeared on to show storms — even though it was wasn’t raining.

The odd smudges were detected on meteorological radars in Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky back on December 10.

The respected defence website Warzone concluded one likely explanation.

Captain Holli Nelson, of West Virginia Air National Guard, said a US Air Force C-130 had been returning to McLaughlin Air National Guard Base in Charleston, after a West Coast exercise.

It was concluded the smudge must have been radar jamming material called chaff that warplanes emit as an anti-missile decoy.

MYSTERY DEEPENS

But then it emerged that similar blobs were spotted on radar in South Florida and in Main which cannot be explained.

According to The War Zone, the one Maine Air National Guard flying unit does not have any planes equipped to release chaff.

It was also thought highly unlikely one would fly from a different base to Maine just to spew out chaff.

The lack of explanations has spawned conspiracy theories.

Mutual UFO Network told the Courier & Press: “We believe there is more to the story than what the FAA and military and publications… are telling us.”
