New Pictures Man, 30, claims ‘6ft panther-like big cat’ attacked him and could have EATEN his girlfriend in Cornwall

A MAN claims he was attacked by a six-foot “panther-like” big cat — which could’ve eaten his girlfriend.

Matthew Wild, 30, says he first spotted the beast banging on the frame of an open window at his girlfriend’s house in Porthleven, Cornwall.

He said the creature looked like a cross between a panther and a domestic cat.

Matthew rushed over to close the window but the animal took a menacing swipe at him.

He told Cornwall Live: “It grabbed my hand through the window. I used to work with animals and this thing was like nothing I’d ever seen. It was worse than anything on telly.

“It growled deeper and louder than anything on Tarzan except the lion. It’s definitely a wild cat.”

It would have eaten her.

Fortunately, the alleged victim escaped the encounter unscathed thanks to the tough skin on his hand.

Matthew said it was a good thing he was there to protect his girlfriend from the predator because if he “hadn’t been there and kept it from her it would have eaten her.”

He said his girlfriend was left horrified by the whole ordeal and he called the cops to tell them about the big cat on the loose.

But Matthew claims police weren’t interested and even threatened to take action against him if he called again.

The creature which Matthew said he was attacked by is not the only big cat believed to be prowling Cornwall.

Local legend says a panther-like cat called the “Beast of Bodmin Moor” stalks the region and occasionally kills livestock.

Sightings of the phantom wild cat have been reported since 1978, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food even held an official investigation into the cat in 1995.

But the mystery may have been solved in 2016 when it was claimed a zoo owner released three pumas into the wild while they were being transferred from a zoo in Plymouth to Dartmoor Zoo.
