New Pictures How to enjoy a fake-away by cutting costs and creating fast food treats at home — plus find out how to book a bargain £9.50 break with The Sun

FAST food and takeaways can leave you forking out a fortune – but there are easy ways to get your fix for far less.

Here’s how you can assemble your own versions of big-name nosh for less dosh . . .

  • DIY KFC: To create your own bargain bucket, pick up a bag of frozen Southern- fried chicken thighs, £3, frozen Southern-fried chips, £1.29, and a bag of mini corn cobs, £1, all from Iceland.

Then head to B&M for its Mayflower Southern-style gravy mix, £1 which makes a mighty 1.6 litres of delicious gravy.
    Spend: £6.29. KFC: £10.49 (six-piece bargain bucket). SAVES: £4.20

  • DIY Nando’s: For those who have a taste for the restaurant chain’s famous peri-peri seasoning, your Nando’s order could not be easier to replicate in the kitchen at home.

Pick up a whole medium chicken from Tesco for £3 and marinate it in supermarket piri-piri sea-soning, 90p. It is the same type of sea- soning as at Nando’s, just with a different spelling.

For the sides, a bag of Super-sweet mini corn on the cob will set you back £1.30 at Tesco, and a bag of Homestyle straight-cut oven chips 950g just £1.35.

For a spicy sauce with a little bit of kick, mix the piri-piri seasoning into ketchup and mayo.
    Spend: £6.55. Nando’s: £20.45 (meal platter). SAVES: £13.90

  • DIY Domino’s Pizza: Cutting the cost of your takeaway pizza is almost too easy because there are plenty of fresh options in supermarkets.

You can get two from Morrisons for £3, including classic flav-ours such as cheese-feast and pepperoni.

If you are a serial crust-dipper, the store even has an onion, garlic and herb stack of dips for £1.20. For dessert, treat yourself to the store’s triple-chocolate cookie dough, £1.72.
Spend: £5.92. Domino’s: £24.99 (Extreme Winter Survival Deal). SAVES: £19.07

  • DIY Wagamama: The ever popular katsu curry is easy to make at home. A pack of four battered chicken-breast steaks from Asda costs just £1.49, and the store’s katsu curry stir-fry sauce is only 80p.

A basic bag of Smart Price long-grain rice is 45p — just make sure you wash it a few times so it’s not too starchy.

As far as we know, no one actually eats the side salad that comes with it in Wagamama, so that is a saving in itself.
    Spend: £2.74. Wagamama: £9.75 SAVES: £7.01
