New Pictures Fussy security guard refuses to let Roger Federer pass without his accreditration

Roger Federer might be one of the most famous men on the planet.

But an overly fussy Australian Open steward refused to recognise the 20-time Grand Slam champion without the proper event credentials.

The Swiss superstar was heading back from practice today in Melbourne ahead of tomorrow night’s third-round highly-anticipated clash with Greek hothead Stefanos Tsitsipas.

He was walking along the players’ entrance wearing a white T-shirt but minus his tournament lanyard, which is given to all players, staff and media when they arrive at the event.

A busy-body steward noticed he did not have his accreditation around his neck and told he had to wait before he could proceed to the locker room.

At least Federer, 37, saw the funny side of it and didn’t argue with the tunnel  blocker.

Calmly he waited until one of his coaching team showed up shortly behind him holding the right pass.

Federer is one of the most popular and loved players at this tournament and is the defending champion.

Twelve months ago, he was taken all the way by Marin Cilic before winning 6-2 6-7 6-3 3-6 6-1 to lift his six Australian Open crown – and 20th major in total.

Officials are very strict at the Australian Open and will not let anyone defy the rules regardless of who they are – or how many Grand Slams they may have won in their career.

Only three days ago, Maria Sharapova hilariously blanked a security guard before grudgingly showing her ID earlier today.

The Russian star, 31, strolled straight past security as she gave a pal a hug before reluctantly flashing her pass
