New Pictures Daniil Medvedev reckons Novak Djokovic is vulnerable ahead of Aussie Open clash

DANIIL Medvedev reckons Novak Djokovic has lost his edge and the world No.1 is beatable.

The confident Russian expects to progress from their Last 16 clash of the Australian Open, which takes place on Monday.

The 22-year-old crushed former world No.7 David Goffin 6-2 7-6(3) 6-3 at the Melbourne Arena and will now face the biggest match of his fledging career.

Medvedev grew up watching Djokovic battling the likes of Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal and Andy Murray for Grand Slam trophies.

And while he has respect for what the Serb has achieved, he also believes the 31-year-old is not exactly the player he used to be.

Djokovic is aiming to become the first man to win seven Australian Open titles and a third straight major crown (after Wimbledon and the US Open).

But 15th seed Medvedev said: “What I can only say is that probably he is not playing as he was before.

“Or that’s just [my] feeling. Because before, when he was young, I was just watching on TV but it was just something insane when he was playing Andy (Murray) or somebody for five hours and you couldn’t see one down (level), it was only up.

“It’s not the same right now, you always have chances to beat him. That’s why he lost three times to ‘Next Gen’ players last year and I’m going to try to find my chances.”
