IF you struggle to find a well-fitting bra – you are not alone.
Research by Debenhams has found 80 per cent of women are wearing the wrong size.
There is no uniform sizing that brands have to follow, meaning you are unlikely to be the same measurement in different stores.
To investigate, Cigdem Tanrioglu asked Curvy Kate’s bra-fitting expert, Rachel Jenkins, to measure model Ava Jones, from West London.
She had been wearing a 32E – but Rachel found her to be a 30FF.
We got Ava to try on 30FF bras from five different stores.
Here, she and Rachel give their verdicts on fit and style before rating them out of five to see which is best — or bust.
Floral
Rachel says: “The back measures up nicely but the lack of support in the straps and cups mean that Ava would have to keep scooping her breasts up to fill the top of the cups.”
Ava says: “The print looked nice at first but once it is on it looks like something a granny would wear. There’s too much room in the cups, it doesn’t flatter me.”
Bra rating: 2/5
Red lace
Rachel says: “The band is firm and a sign you are wearing the right size cup is the underwire sitting just outside the natural curve of the breast, like this one.”
Ava says: “This fits really well and looks sexy, which can be hard to find in such a big cup size.
“It is just a shame it is made from scratchy material – it would have been a winner otherwise.”
Bra rating: 4/5
Nude
Rachel says: “This fabric is too firm and tight on the back, and the cups squash her breasts rather than support them.
“Also, the wire in the middle is too big and pushes them apart. This is not a good fit.”
Ava says: “You’d think this bra would fit well because it looks functional rather than sexy. However, it doesn’t.”

Black embroidered

Rachel says: “The band fits well on Ava’s back and the wiring sits on the outside of her natural curves, meeting in the middle of her chest, making this an overall good fit.”
Ava says: “This one certainly looks sexy and has great support.
“I’d wear this on a special occasion.”

Leopard print
Rachel says: “There’s enough room in the band for her to move around without it feeling loose.
“Also, the wiring in the cups fit perfectly around the natural curve of the breast.”
Ava says: “This feels really comfortable and I like the smooth line that it creates for my body.
“It would be a great everyday style.”
