New Pictures How glam model Ocean Ramsey dices with death everyday by swimming with the world’s biggest great white sharks

OCEAN Ramsey takes a deep breath and plunges 12 feet down to stroke the great white shark swimming beneath her…

It’s a daily occurrence for the glam 32-year-old, who spends her days in a bikini free-diving with the predators as part of her job as a marine biologist.

#Jaws was a fictitious film whose poster kind of looks like this, so this is my effort at an Anti-Jaws type media piece @savingjawsmovie . I’ve been swimming with sharks my whole life and working professionally with them for over 15 years. There’s a challenge I have in my efforts, to find a balance between helping people to overcome their fear of sharks that often stems for fictitious demonizing media and instilling a healthy level of respect for sharks as very capable apex predators #ApexPredatorNotMonster not puppy (cause if you pet puppies often even puppies bite, actually a lot ;)). Having worked with sharks for so long I can fully appreciate what they are capable of because I have been rushed by sharks and had to deter them and I have had to leave the water and I have watched them actively predate and compete for space and have confrontations.  However, I’ve also had the most incredible moments of my life in the water with them where 99.9% of the time they cruise gracefully around and so long as I keep looking around and pay attention constantly and quietly and give respect and attention to the more dominant individuals and challenging juveniles on a CONSTANT bases I am treated as more or less an equal predator.  Never complacent, always respectful and adapting at every second to every movement. I reached the point long ago where I dedicated my life to conservation and I love it, I love educating people about sharks and introducing them to them in a professional guided situation through the program I co-founded @oneoceandiving where we also collect data @oneoceanresearch @oneoceansharks and help support conservation through @Oneoceanconservation and @OneoceanEducation and @Oneoceanglobal @Waterinspired @oneoceanhawaii and other with funds from @oneoceandesigns and diving I love studying shark behavior and body language and its an absolute pleasure to share that with people and help them to better appreciate sharks and I hope inspire them to help save them.  Check out http://HelpSaveSharks.Org for more ways to get involved. #Aloha #hawaii #greatWhiteHawaii #SaveTheOcean #ocean #discoversharks #oneoceanconservation #OneOceanDiving PHOTO CREDIT @juansharks ❤

The fearless beauty, who specialises in animal behaviour – works to protect the predators from extinction by raising awareness of their plight on social media.

Ocean, from Oahu, Hawaii, made waves this week when she posted impressive snaps of her swimming alongside a 20 foot, 50-year-old shark named Deep Blue.

But it’s not the first time she’s been up close and personal with one of nature’s giants…

The bikini-clad shark whisperer

Ocean regularly spends her days swimming with sharks, and posts pictures of her adventures on her Instagram page.

The influencer who is followed by chef Gordon Ramsey, F1 star Lewis Hamilton and Pixie Geldof, has over half a million followers, and uses her presence to encourage people to petition for shark rights.

Post via @oceanramsey Disclaimer: I highly discourage people from jumping into the water purposely with Great #WhiteSharks and TigerSharks and all sharks should be given respect as space as wild animals and PROTECTION from wasteful killing for their important ecological role. I work daily in the water with sharks as a shark biologist and teach public and professional safety programs through @OneoceanResearch and @OneOceanDiving and through a number of our international projects which also includes #greatWhiteShark research specifically. I try hard to replace fear with scientific facts and encourage a healthy level of respect for sharks as #apexPredatorsNotMonsters but not puppies…but not monsters. They are sharks and I love and respect them for what they are. Yes I absolutely LOVE sharks and have a deep understanding and respect for their capabilities combined with well over a decade of full time experience working in-water with them.  My life mission, passion, and I think purpose is to help further conservation efforts for them through research, conservation, design, and immersive and impactful programs and outreach. Please check out all the divisions of #OneOceanDiving listed below for more information and please help us to ban #sharkfinning #sharkfishing #sharksportfishing and #sharkculling around the world. I just found out the the bill to ban the purposeful killing of sharks and rays in Hawaii will be re-introduced this year in both eh house and senate following all the positive shark press that has come from this incredible encounter in the last few days. Mahalo nui loa (thank you) to all those who support efforts for shark and marine conservation. #gratitude #helpsavesharks #finbannow #sharkarma #savesharks #Sharkconservation #sharkresearch. She first gained notoriety when she was filmed riding the back of a great white named Bella in 2012.

The trained free diver – who can hold her breath for six minutes and reach depths of 175 ft – went viral for the nail-biting moment.

Ocean dived headfirst into what would be most people’s worst nightmare when she swam with Great White shark Bella in 2012

The shark fanatic made contact with the shark when diving off the coast of Baja, Mexico[/caption]

She said at the time: “A lot of people don’t know a lot about sharks.

“People think sharks are going to attack them but that’s so far from the truth – most of the time the sharks are more afraid of us.”

For what might be someone’s worst nightmare, Ocean is fearless when it comes to diving with sharks: “I’m more scared driving on the road than swimming with sharks,” she says. “Sharks are a lot more predictable than people.”

100 million sharks killed a year by humans

Shockingly, the scientist-turned-model says approximately 100 million sharks per year are killed by humans, mainly for their fins – which are used in Chinese delicacy, shark fin soup.

Ocean says: “Shark fin soup is neither tasty or nutritious, it is actually toxic, simply a status symbol, and the demand for it is responsible for the global decimation of shark populations by over 90 per cent.”

Ocean is shark advocate first and foremost but is also a model[/caption]

The blonde model argues that people are unnecessarily scared of sharks.

She said: “Every story needs a villain, and after films like Jaws, it’s just too easy to manipulate the human psyche and ingrain a deeper more absurd terror.

“Just showing these animals swimming around not biting or eating anything – as they are probably 99 per cent of the time – isn’t enough to convince people.”

There have been fears around the world that shark attacks will increase because the global heatwave is attracting the prehistoric predators to coastal waters.

The UK and some of Britain’s favourite holiday hotspots have already seen examples of the shift, with multiple sightings in Majorca and off the coast of Cornwall.

And a Czech dad was killed in a shark attack last year while holidaying with his family at an Egyptian Red Sea resort popular with Brits.

All-female team on a mission to “save Jaws”

Ocean surrounds herself with people who think the same way as her, and is engaged to fellow diver and her personal photographer Juan Oliphant.

When she’s back at home in Hawaii Ocean, Ocean also runs her own business One Ocean Research and Diving.

Her all-female team go out on daily dives to in a bid to educate people about the biology, physiology, behaviour, and body language of sharks to create safer interactions with the animals.

Great whites are considered the most predatory of all marine creatures, and Ocean is desperate for people to be more understanding of them.

PHOTO BY @juansharks 😍😱🤭😳😍 Maybe my fav photo of me (@oceanramsey) and Shark ohana 🦈 of all time so far 😳😍😱 It’s so hard to choose, so many beautiful moments I am so eternally grateful for sharks please help save them. I am without words and at the same time I think I never stop speaking up for sharks, I am grateful beyond measure for my experiences and what they have taught me. This photo was taken yesterday off my home waters of Oahu, Hawaii when hey Shark I think I’ve met previously in Isla Guadalupe graced us with her big beautiful incredible presence 💙 I headed out with my team from @oneoceandiving (my ❤ @juansharks ) and @mermaid_kayleigh @forrest.in.focus @camgrantphotography for a day I will never forget. I’ve been trying to get the bill re-introduced in Hawaii to ban the purposeful killing of sharks and rays and this just feels like the biggest sign to keep pushing forward for more protection for them. Shark populations around the planet are severely declined. They need protection from targeted shark fishing for shark been soup and sport fishing. Please speak up in your own community and help support international efforts. #helpsavesharks #savesharks #shark #greatwhiteshark #sharks #oceanramseyandgreatwhite #oceanramseygreatwhite PHOTO BY #JUANSHARKS #Sharkphotographer #Sharkarma #savetheocean #instagood Join me at my team to learn about sharks OneOceanDiving.Com @oneoceanresearch @oneoceanconservation @oneoceaneducation @oneoceanglobal @oneoceanhawaii @waterinspired New conservation benefit tiger shark biomimicry wetsuit by @xcelwetsuits #instagram #discoversharks #instagood #ocean #incredible #amazing #beautiful Photo by @juansharks 😘😍❤🦈❤

“However, I’ve also had the most incredible moments of my life in the water with them where 99.9 per cent of the time they cruise gracefully around.

Ocean’s good looks are sure to raise more awareness of her cause to preserve the shark population.

And with more than half a million followers on her social media platform her saving Jaws mission is certain to keep on thriving.
