New Pictures Michael Schumacher ‘COMPLETELY different’ behind closed doors, manager reveals

MICHAEL Schumacher lived a secret hidden life away from the glare of Formula One, his manager and close pal has revealed.

The stricken F1 legend, currently being cared for at home in Switzerland following a skiing tragedy in 2014, was known for his cold and analytical approach to winning.

But behind close doors Schuey, who turned 50 earlier this month, was much more relaxed.

In a rare insight, Michael’s manager and family friend Sabine Kehm has told how the ruthless racing ace cut a far more laidback figure among pals.

She said he was known for his infectious smile and jokey nature – and would often be seen with a rum and coke in his hands while playing football with friends.

Speaking to Beyond The Grid, Forumla One’s official podcast, Sabine said Michael was “privately completely different” to his colder and more calculated public persona.

In his private sphere, he was much slower in everything he did

She said Michael was “very relaxed” and “not so methodical” in his personal life compared with the clinical mindset he needed to succeed behind the wheel.

Sabine added that the seven-time world champ was “one who could enjoy his life, who had a lot of fun and spent a lot of time with friends doing things that he could laugh about afterwards.

“In his private sphere, he was much slower in everything he did.

“In Formula One everything had to be done super fast, boom, boom.

“Sometimes we had crazy schedules with two-minute appointments, but privately he was totally different, relaxed.”

STILL A PERFECT COUPLE

Michael has not been seen publicly since suffering a severe brain injury in a horror skiing accident in the Alps in 2013.

Details on his condition have remained scarce.

Asked about how the former racer would escape the intense demands of his career and world-famous celebrity, Kehm said: “Michael clearly had his family.

“Corinna [and Michael] they were such a perfect couple and they are still a perfect couple if you ask me.

“When he went home and the kids would come in, Formula One was far away. And he needed that privacy.

“His family has always been his charge in a way.”

She added: “Family-wise he was — and still is — really close with his family”.

Schumacher and wife Corinna have two children, Gina — an award-winning equestrian, 21 — and Mick, 19, who has followed in his dad’s footsteps and will race in Formula Two this year.
