New Pictures Juventus back in transfer hunt for Man United flop Darmian after failed £18m bid last summer

MAN UNITED flop Matteo Darmian could be on his way out of Old Trafford after Juventus resumed interest in the defender, according to reports in Italy.

Darmian, who joined United from Torino in 2015, has played just one minute of league football since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became caretaker manager in December.

And the Italian full-back has failed to find a permanent place in the United starting XI despite playing under three coaches – Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Solskjaer.

But an escape route may have opened up as Serie A champions Juventus have shown interest in signing Darmian, according to Calciomercato.

Juve made an attempt to bring the 29-year-old back to Italy last summer but an £18million price tag put the Old Lady off.

Darmian has made just six appearances in all competitions this season and featured in only 18 games during the last campaign.

He was signed by Van Gaal on a four-year deal for a fee of £12.7m.

According to Tuttosport, Darmian’s deal includes a one-year extension to 2020 which would allow Juve to sign him on loan.

Solskjaer, who’s led United to seven consecutive wins in his first games as boss, is yet to decide a permanent right-back.

Summer signing Diogo Dalot has featured in the full-back position as well as Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia.

But Darmian has found no place and his time at Old Trafford looks over.
