STAR Trek Discovery second series will see iconic character Spock return to TV after 27 years.
Ethan Peck takes on the role from original Mr. Spock actor Leonard Nimoy, who last appeared on television as the character in 1991.
The Vulcan will reunite with his adopted sister and new lead character Michael Burnham, played by The Walking Dead’s Sonequa Martin-Green, when the hour long show opener airs tonight in the US on CBS.
The siblings are set to be key players as writers venture into Spock’s hidden past.
Burnham and Spock grew up together and fans will learn more about their history after Ambassador Sarek (James Frain) and Amanda Grayson (Mia Kirshner) adopted the character following the death of her parents.
Kurtzman previously revealed the decision to make Michael a relative of Spock when he told Digital Spy: “This evolved from the storytelling.

“The first Vulcan you’re going to think of when you think of Vulcans is Spock, so as the story evolved, it became an interesting exploration of, ‘Wait, how could they have been potentially living in the same home, under Amanda and Sarek, and Spock has never mentioned her?’
“When we got into that dramatic questioning, it became a fascinating idea and we locked in on it.
“However, a lot of people are going to have a real issue with it and now it’s incumbent on us to prove why that was the right choice.”

Star Trek has yielded 14 feature films and 740 television episodes to date, as well as novels, comic books, and video games.
